The Threatened Spermonde
Documentary
Despite growing global concern over climate change, the residents of Barrang Lompo Island remain largely unaware of the environmental changes affecting their waters. Attributing declining fish populations, rising sea levels, and severe waves to the will of God, they believe these changes are beyond human control. This lack of awareness about the role of human activities in accelerating climate change poses a serious threat to their livelihoods and long-term survival, making adaptation to worsening conditions increasingly difficult.
