In Mongolia, many young people silently carry the weight of poverty, loneliness, and emotions they cannot name. In a culture where conversations about mental health are only beginning, professional support is scarce and stigma keeps teenagers suffering in silence. Light Up follows the story of a young girl who once bore that same burden. Through the Peer Support program, she found understanding, recovered, and became a peer supporter herself—guiding others with compassion and hope. More than a personal story, Light Up reflects the urgent need for empathy and open dialogue, reminding us that healing begins with being heard.
Project Good Mind and Soul
Good Mind and Soul empowers adolescents in Mongolia through peer-support practices led by youth who have overcome psychological challenges. With suicide rates among young people five times higher than the regional average, the project trains 15 peer supporters and 50 supervisors—psychologists, social workers, and teachers — to foster safe, supportive school environments. Implemented in four schools across Ulaanbaatar and rural areas, the initiative builds emotional resilience, reduces stigma, and strengthens community capacity for long-term mental well-being.
